The Catholic Foundation of Oklahoma awarded $137,000 in College Scholarships for 2015. The Foundation will be accepting applications for college scholarships for the 2016-2017 academic year after January 1, 2016. All forms and required information must be submitted to the Catholic Foundation office no later than Wednesday, April 6, 2016.
After January 1, 2016, applications will be available from your Parish Pastor or Director of Religious Education. Applications will also be available on the Foundation website Scholarship Center.
Each year, the Catholic Foundation awards college scholarships to approximately 90 students from throughout the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City. The scholarship recipients are determined based on financial need, academic achievement, and service to church and community. The recipient must be a full time student and a permanent resident of the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City. Scholarships are awarded for up to 4 years of undergraduate study as long as the student maintains a 3.0 cumulative GPA.
Catholic Foundation Board member and Scholarship Committee Chairman, Alan Aneshansley, from Clinton's St Mary Church, recently commented, “Catholic Foundation Scholarships have been given to Catholic Students annually for almost 50 years. It is part of our evangelization within the Archdiocese and another way that gifts to the Catholic Foundation continue to invest in the future of our faith.”
While all Scholarships are awarded regardless of the college or university chosen by the applicant - students attending a Catholic university receive twice the customary Catholic Foundation award of $1500 per year.
In addition to scholarships awarded from the Catholic Foundation Endowment Fund, special scholarships are awarded to students through several Named Funds at the Foundation. These include:
