February 3rd - Maria Ruiz Scaperlanda
Author of “The Shepherd Who Didn’t Run”
In the past 30+ years, María has been published broadly in the U.S., including AMERICA Magazine, St. Anthony Messenger, the New York Times, Our Sunday Visitor and other national and regional publications. She is a former Director and Vice-President on the Catholic Press Association Board, and a fellow of the Salzburg Global Seminar, an international community of intellectuals. In June of 2016, Maria was awarded the St. Francis de Sales Award, the highest award the Catholic Press Association presents to an individual for his/her "outstanding contributions to Catholic journalism.” Maria has traveled broadly on international assignments in Central America and the Caribbean, the Middle East, Africa, and throughout Europe. Perhaps her favorite assignment was covering Pope John Paul II’s historic visit to her native country, Cuba. She has published eight books, and contributed to numerous more.

Much of Arthur Lohsen’s experience as an architect has been spent working on historic buildings or working to create new buildings that are timeless in their style. As a founding partner of Franck & Lohsen, Architects, Art serves as the managing partner for the business aspects of the firm as well as overseeing the firms numerous projects.
Working with a wide variety of clients, Art’s projects range from University libraries to church projects. His keen understanding of historic building guidelines has led to the successful navigation of the approvals process in historic districts.
Art has a particular skill in integrating new technologies into the practice of architecture, both in the production of architectural designs and in the construction of cutting-edge projects. He continually evaluates new methods and products, seeking ones that can deliver higher quality and better value to Franck & Lohsen’s clients.
Art is a licensed architect in many States, has been certified as a LEED Accredited Professional by the United States Green Building Council and is accredited by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards.

November 3rd - Bishop Mueggenborg
Born and raised in rural western Oklahoma, Bishop Mueggenborg graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1984 with a geology degree and a related computer science degree. He attended the pre-theology program at St. Meinrad Seminary in Indiana and the theology program at the Pontifical North American College in Rome. He was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Tulsa in 1989.
Bishop Mueggenborg completed a Licentiate degree in Biblical Theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome in 1990. During his 30+ years as a priest, Bishop Mueggenborg has served as parochial vicar and pastor in several parishes and in a variety of ministerial roles, including high school chaplain and teacher, Newman Center chaplain, Director of Clergy and Education, and Vicar for Religious. He also served on the administrative staff of the Pontifical North American College and was adjunct professor at the Gregorian University. Pope Francis appointed him Auxiliary Bishop of Seattle on April 6, 2017, and he was ordained bishop on May 31, 2017.
Bishop Mueggenborg comes from a farming and ranching family and enjoys mountain biking and hiking in his free time. He has climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro and has hiked the Grand Canyon as well as a substantial portion of the Camino de Santiago. He credits his love for the outdoors to his rural upbringing and his involvement in the Boy Scouts of America.
