IWP Capital Screen Summary: Our Mission Alignment Our portfolio is governed by an Investment Policy Statement that mandates adherence to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) Socially Responsible Investment Guidelines. This report, updated quarterly, monitors our compliance. The analysis is conducted by IWP Capital, which reviews all underlying holdings within the mutual funds the Foundation owns, assigning a "pass" or "fail" mark to each stock or bond. This detailed data is used to calculate the portfolio's "Weighted Fail Rate": the specific portion associated with non-compliant companies. Per our policy, this rate must remain below a 5% hard cap. As stewards, the board strives to stay below a 4% failure rate, with an ultimate goal of 0%.
Mercer Performance Report key
The performance report from our partner, Mercer, shares how the Foundation's investments are performing. We present this information in two main sections to provide both timeliness and a complete picture:
Part 1: The Public Portfolio (Pages 1-3) This is the most current snapshot of our portfolio. It covers our publicly traded investments, like stocks and bonds, which have daily market values.
Page 1: This is the main summary. It shows the portfolio's beginning and ending value, all activity (deposits and withdrawals), and how much the portfolio grew from appreciation and income. It also compares our allocation to our policy targets and shows our returns (gross/net) against our benchmark.
Page 2: A simple "donut" chart to visualize our investment mix.
Page 3: A look back at our performance by calendar year
Part 2: The Consolidated Portfolio (Pages 4-6) This section includes the entire Foundation portfolio. This includes our public assets plus our alternative investments like private equity, debt, real estate, and hedge funds. These private assets aren't traded on an exchange, so it takes longer to get accurate valuations. For this reason, the consolidated report is typically one quarter behind the public report. The layout is the same as the first section, just with all assets included.
