The Parish Facilities Grant program is managed by the Catholic Foundation of Oklahoma Parish Life Grants Committee. The parish facility improvement program is open to parishes and mission churches in the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City with total annual income under $500,000 and assets under $300,000.
The objective of the Parish Facilities Grant program is to provide economically challenged parishes in the Archdiocese of Oklahoma with partial funding for projects which otherwise would not be completed. These funds should support, not supplant, parish's ability to undertake their own fundraising efforts. To do otherwise would be to diminish, rather than contribute to, parishes pride and community building derived from accomplishing a good work together. Therefore, at least 50% of the project costs must be paid for by fundraising and donations.
50% from the Parish
The parish or mission church provides 50% of funds for the project from local fundraising or loans from the Parish Deposit and Loan Fund (PDLF), paid over time.
25% from the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City
Gifts from the Annual Catholic Appeal provide up to 25% of the project,
25% from the Catholic Foundation of Oklahoma
An anonymous donor provides up to 25% of project
Important Information for Parish Facilities Grant applicants:
Written requests for grants are accepted twice each year in Spring and Fall.
Analysis of grant requests will be made by the Catholic Foundation Parish Life Grants Committee and Secretariat of Finance (if warranted) and Office of Divine Worship (if warranted).
As part of the application review process, the Catholic Foundation may request a site visit and meeting with parish leadership.
All applications must include the following:
- Detailed written description of the project and plan, photos or concept drawings
- Detailed financial budget including any contractor or supplier quotes to support project budget
- Copy of current parish's financial budget and balance sheet
- Pastor's letter of recommendation specific to project
- Archdiocesan authorization for projects over $25,000. Request for Archbishop Coakley's authorization, contact RLewis@archokc.org at least 10 days prior to deadline.
The parish must secure 50% of the total funds needed for the project.
Awardees will submit a signed contract or purchase order, and copies of professional licensed contractors' certificate of insurance for duration of project prior to fund distribution.
Awardees will submit a progress report every 6 months until the project is complete and a final report after completion in cases of long-term construction.
